Cuban Rumba Jam (Community Event)

The Sunday Lounge Rumba has been going on at La Peña for the past 12 years and we want to see it continue. We highly encourage attendees to donate online to ensure that we keep this community event alive!
Folkloric Afro-Cuban Rhythm & Dance Every 1st & 3rd Sunday!
Come enjoy the Afro-Cuban folkloric drums, dances, and songs of rumba. Rumba is the word used for a group of related, community-oriented, music and dance styles in Cuba. Rumba developed in rural Cuba, with strong influences from African drumming and Spanish poetry and singing.

UC Alumni Chorus Presents: A Mass-Up *Note: actual end time may vary.*

A mash-up of movements from the great masses. Come hear the finest examples of choral writing ever amassed from a thousand years of Eucharist and Requiem Mass settings. The programme offers a seamless presentation of glorious excerpts performed by a massive chorus and orchestra; featuring soprano Michele Kennedy and guest singers from the Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco, UC Berkeley's Perfect Fifth, and the UC Men's and Women's Chorales - all under the direction of Dr. Mark Sumner. Come enjoy an amazing juxtaposition of music that will surprise the mind and excite the ear. There will even be mashups within the mashup!

Video Games Live

An interactive show created by game music composer Tommy Tallarico features the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra performing live arrangements of video game music hits, synchronized to video footage, light displays, and theatrical special effects. Pre- and post-concert events offer a chance to interact with others in the gaming community, and include a costume contest, and meet-and-greets with top industry game composers and designers.
